Let’s Talk Motorized Blinds in Action
How Motorized Blinds & Shades Work
Hunter Douglas PowerView® Automation lets you adjust compatible blinds and shades without manually operating each window treatment. Use a Pebble® Remote, the PowerView® App, personalized schedules, or compatible smart home controls to position your shades throughout the day.
Motorization is especially convenient for large or hard-to-reach windows, but it can also simplify everyday light control throughout your home. Schedule bedroom shades to open in the morning, close shades during periods of intense afternoon sun, or create customized scenes for privacy, entertaining, and room darkening.

Power Options for Motorized Shades

AA Batteries
Motorized shades are capable of wire-free power with standard AA batteries that are housed within the headrail.
Rechargeable Battery Wand
Keep your motorized shades moving with the Hunter Douglas rechargeable battery wand. This slim wand can be recharged in the docking station when the power is low. The rechargeable battery wand is an option for retrofit in previously purchased PowerView® automated shades.
Solar Charger
Hunter Douglas introduced a compatible solar charger to help maintain the charge of the rechargeable battery wand using available daylight. This attaches to the glass of your window.
Hardwired Power
Hardwired power is available for PowerView® Automation, reducing maintenance of motorized shades. This requires wiring in place and is a great consideration with new construction and home remodeling.
Smart Home Compatibility
PowerView® Automation can integrate with select smart home platforms, allowing compatible shades to work alongside other connected features in your home.

Which Hunter Douglas Shades Can Be Motorized?
PowerView® Automation is available with many of our most popular Hunter Douglas window treatments. Your designer can help you compare compatible products and determine the best operating and power option for each room.

Shades
Motorization is available with many Hunter Douglas shade collections, giving you full control of raising, lowering, positioning, and scheduling compatible shades. Popular options include Designer Roller Shades, Duette® Honeycomb Shades, Silhouette® Sheer Shades, and Pirouette® Window Shadings.

Blinds
Motorization works differently with blinds than with most shades. Aria™ Soft Blinds can offer motorized lift and tilt, allowing the blind to raise and lower as well as adjust the slats. Parkland® Wood Blinds, EverWood® Alternative Wood Blinds, and Modern Precious Metals® Blinds offer PowerView® motorized tilt only, so the slats can be adjusted for light and privacy while the blind itself is raised or lowered manually.

Custom Drapery
Motorized drapery can open and close automatically with PowerView® Automation, making it especially useful for wide windows, layered treatments, and rooms where you want scheduled privacy or light control. Explore our custom drapery options to compare fabrics and operating styles.

Vertical Shades
Motorized vertical window treatments are especially helpful for sliding glass doors and large openings. PowerView® Automation is available with options such as Luminette® Privacy Sheers and Skyline® Gliding Window Panels, allowing you to open, close, and schedule compatible treatments with greater ease.

Shutters
Motorization is available with select shutter collections, including Palm Beach™ PolySatin™ Shutters. PowerView® Automation adjusts the shutter louvers for convenient light and privacy control without manually tilting each panel.
