The Latest Color Trends in Home Design: See the Inspo!

We’re excited to announce that the latest color trends have arrived. Pantone Color Institute unveiled their top 10 color palette during September’s New York Fashion Week, along with a collection of 5 favorable neutrals. These colors are slated to influence all areas of design in the coming year…including home decor!

Meet the Palette

Described as lively and full of optimism, the top 10 colors for 2024 were chosen to encourage personalization and freedom of expression. They are a happy group–are they not?

If it’s the calm and peaceful nature of neutrals you’re after, you won’t be disappointed in this year’s selections. These 5 “classic” colors are the ideal blend of favorites. Two browns, two grays and a crisp white. So many ways to style these!

Light & Bright

A stunning scene, this living room is light and airy, but exudes a cozy warmth with the beige tones. If you’re a lover of all things neutral, but you’d like to introduce color in small doses, accent pillows, throw blankets and home decor accessories are a great place to start.

Dark & Moody

One home design statement we can’t enough of is the dark and moody vibes, created with rich tones and contrasting colors. A dark wall, a vibrant piece of furniture, a few white accents intentionally placed for balance and visual interest…it just feels luxurious.

Opposing Colors

One main rule–when working with color–tells us to pair colors on the opposite sides of the color wheel. Red & green, yellow & purple, blue & orange. Does it sound like we’re talking about football jerseys? You’re onto something! Many times, you’ll see versions of these color pairings–they are eye-catching and statement-making. The fun part of playing with color comes with your own take on this rule. The home office below showcase the famous “blue & orange” opposite pair, but the hues have evolved for a whole new look. In home design, one of the colors often plays the dominant role, while the other adds a smaller amount of accent.

When it comes to window coverings, the sky’s the limit. You can choose patterns, prints or solids. With the color pairing in the home office (above), the homeowners chose to go neutral with the Pirouette Shades. This creates a subtle backdrop–and what a backdrop it is! Pirouettes fold in place to reveal a sheer view-through to the landscape.

Colors with Likeness

Another rule that simply cannot be ignored–pairing colors that sit next to each other on the color wheel. Because of their likenesses, they give off a calm, soothing vibe. Green & blue are a great example of this relationship.
